The Garmin LVS34 LiveScope Plus Transducer is the upgraded transducer for Garmin’s LiveScope Plus live-action sonar system – the same family that brought real-time fish-and-structure imaging to recreational marine sonar. LiveScope shows what’s happening underwater in real time – you literally see fish swimming around your bait or lure as you fish, see structure ahead of the boat before you reach it, see bait schools below the boat moving in real time. The LVS34 is the current-generation Plus transducer that improves on the original LVS32 with meaningfully better image clarity, transducer sensitivity, and target separation. For owners with existing LiveScope installations, the LVS34 is the drop-in upgrade to LiveScope Plus capability. For new installs, this is the right transducer to pair with a compatible Garmin chartplotter and GLS 10 sonar module.

Upgrade from original LiveScope (LVS32). The LVS34 transducer is compatible with the same Garmin GLS 10 sonar module that drove the original LVS32 transducer – meaning if you have an existing LiveScope installation, you upgrade to LiveScope Plus image quality just by swapping the transducer. No need to replace the black box, no new chartplotter required (assuming your chartplotter already supported the original LiveScope). The upgrade path is genuinely simple – one part swap delivers meaningfully improved imaging without the cost or install complexity of a full system replacement.

Three LiveScope viewing modes. The LiveScope system supports three distinct viewing modes, all available with the LVS34 transducer when paired with the appropriate mount. Forward mode looks forward of the boat – see fish and structure ahead before you reach it (critical for vertical jigging, casting to specific targets, and shallow water navigation). Down mode looks straight down – see what’s directly below the boat in real time (replaces traditional 2D sonar with dramatically better real-time imagery). Perspective mode looks down and forward at an angle – hybrid view that shows the bottom contour and any fish on / above it in a panoramic sweep. The transducer hardware supports all three modes. you switch between modes on the chartplotter and orient the transducer via the appropriate mount.

Real-time imaging. The defining feature of LiveScope – sonar updates in real time so you see fish behavior as it happens, not static snapshots that update every few seconds. For vertical jigging applications (ice fishing, deep-water vertical fishing), real-time imaging lets you watch a fish move toward your bait, react to your jigging action, and either commit to the strike or swim away. Without real-time imaging, you’d never know the fish was there. The difference between LiveScope and traditional sonar is roughly the difference between video and still photography for capturing fish behavior.

Image stabilization built in. Boats move in waves and current. without compensation, the sonar image moves on the screen as the boat moves, making it hard to track moving targets. The LVS34 includes built-in image stabilization that keeps the sonar image steady on the chartplotter regardless of boat motion. In rough conditions where unstable imagery would be unusable, the stabilization keeps the picture readable. Particularly valuable for vertical jigging in rough water where the boat is bouncing but you need a stable sonar reference to watch fish behavior.

Seven vivid color palettes. The Plus generation adds seven color palette options for the sonar display – Aqua, Caribbean, Lava, plus four more. Different palettes work better for different lighting conditions and personal preferences. Bright outdoor conditions often want the high-contrast palettes. low-light or dawn / dusk conditions can use more subtle palettes that don’t dazzle the eyes. The choice is yours.

500 watts transmit power. The LVS34 transmits at 500W – meaningfully more power than typical fish finder transducers (which typically run 100-600W in this frequency range). The higher transmit power translates directly to better target detection and clearer imagery at the extremes of the LiveScope effective range.

530-1100 kHz frequency range. The LVS34 operates across the 530-1100 kHz frequency range – the high-frequency band where MEGA-class imaging detail is achievable. Higher frequencies give better resolution and detail. the tradeoff is shorter maximum range. For LiveScope applications where detail is everything and the operational ranges are short (under 200 feet), the high-frequency operation is the right choice.

200-foot maximum depth (Down and Forward). The LVS34 delivers usable LiveScope imaging at depths and ranges up to 200 feet in both Down and Forward modes. For deeper water applications, LiveScope’s effective range decreases – the 200-foot rating is the practical effective range for most fishing applications. For deep-water work beyond 200 feet, traditional CHIRP sonar is the right tool. for the shallow-to-mid-depth range where LiveScope works, it’s unmatched.

20 degrees by 135 degrees beamwidth. The LiveScope beam is fan-shaped – 20 degrees vertical (the narrow dimension) by 135 degrees horizontal (the wide dimension). In Forward mode oriented vertically, the wide horizontal sweep covers a large area ahead of the boat. In Down mode oriented horizontally, the 135-degree wide sweep covers a wide area below the boat. The fan beam is what gives LiveScope its distinctive panoramic view.

Garmin Marine Network connector. The LVS34 terminates in a 21-pin small connector for the Garmin Marine Network – specifically the connector that pairs with the GLS 10 sonar module. The 20-foot cable length is sufficient for typical trolling-motor-mount installations on small-to-mid boats. for longer cable runs, Garmin extension cables are available.

Power and electrical. 10-32V input range covers both 12V and 24V boat electrical systems. 21W typical power usage, 58W maximum during active scanning. 7.5A fuse on the transducer power feed. The compass-safe distance is 4 inches – mount the transducer at least 4 inches from any magnetic compass to prevent compass interference from the transducer’s magnetic components.

Compact and lightweight. The transducer measures 6.4 x 3.1 x 1.9 inches and weighs 2.25 lbs. Compact enough to mount on trolling motor barrels without adding significant weight. small enough to mount on transoms without becoming a snag hazard. What you need for a complete system. The LVS34 transducer is one component of a complete LiveScope Plus system.
