The Raymarine i70s is the modern color multifunction instrument display – one chassis that can show any combination of boat data, configured by the user via the on-screen menus. Replace the rack of dedicated single-function instruments (separate depth gauge, separate speed log, separate wind display, separate engine gauges) with a smaller number of i70s heads that each show whatever data is most useful at that helm position. The i70s is the modern Raymarine instrument that fits the standard 110 mm instrument cutout – direct replacement for older ST60+ instruments without modifying the existing helm panel.
Color LCD multifunction display. The 4.1-inch color LCD shows boat data using configurable graphical layouts – large numeric displays for single critical values, dual-data screens with two values shown simultaneously, multi-data screens with up to four values displayed in quadrants, gauge screens with analog-needle visualizations of speed or wind, and graph screens that plot data trends over time. The user configures which data appears on each screen, and switches between screens with the keypad. Color-coding is meaningful for some data types – port-side wind shown red, starboard-side wind shown green, depth alarms in red when below threshold, engine warnings in yellow / red. You don’t have to interpret cryptic numeric warnings – the color tells you immediately.
SeaTalkng + NMEA 2000 + SeaTalk network compatibility. The i70s is the modern Raymarine instrument that bridges all three Raymarine network protocols. SeaTalkng is the modern Raymarine network (effectively NMEA 2000 compatible with extra Raymarine-specific power and data conventions). NMEA 2000 is the open marine standard. SeaTalk is the older Raymarine network (legacy installations). The i70s connects natively to SeaTalkng and NMEA 2000 networks. it connects to legacy SeaTalk networks via the Raymarine SeaTalk-to-SeaTalkng adapter. For boats with a mix of network ages, the i70s integrates them all and displays data from any sensor on any network.
Configurable data displays – what the i70s actually shows. Any data that any compatible sensor on the network reports: depth (from any compatible depth transducer), speed through water and water temperature (from any compatible speed / temp transducer), wind speed and angle (from any compatible wind transducer), heading (from any compatible compass / heading sensor), GPS-derived course-over-ground and speed-over-ground (from a chartplotter or standalone GPS), engine data (RPM, oil pressure, coolant temp, fuel level, fuel flow from any NMEA 2000 engine gateway), environment data (cabin temp, outside air temp, barometric pressure), AIS target counts and closest-point-of-approach data, autopilot status and target heading, navigation data from a chartplotter (cross-track error, distance and bearing to next waypoint, ETA). The user configures which subset of these to display on each screen.
Master vs. Repeater configuration. Configure the i70s as a Master instrument (the i70s drives its own connected transducer – for example, a wind transducer plugged into the i70s’s transducer port – and the i70s sources that data onto the network for other instruments to share) or as a Repeater (the i70s only displays data sourced by other instruments on the network, doesn’t drive its own transducer). For boats with multiple i70s heads at different helm positions, typically one i70s is the Master for each transducer and the others are Repeaters showing the same data.
Built-in wind transducer interface. The i70s has a built-in wind transducer interface that accepts the Raymarine traditional wind transducer or the Rotavecta masthead unit. The Master i70s sources wind data directly from the connected masthead unit. Repeater i70s heads on the same network display the wind data sourced by the Master. For sailboats this is the typical instrument hierarchy: Master i70s in the cockpit or below decks (with the wind transducer cable terminating at the Master), Repeater i70s heads at additional helm positions or in the cabin.
Red backlighting for night visibility. The i70s screen and keypad both feature red LED backlighting for night-vision-friendly use – red light doesn’t disrupt the operator’s dark-adapted vision the way white light does, which matters meaningfully on offshore overnight passages. Brightness is adjustable. Local and group dimming control: adjust one i70s independently or set a group dimming command that adjusts all networked Raymarine instruments simultaneously – so you don’t end up with a mismatched mix of bright and dim displays at the helm.
IPX6 / IPX7 waterproof rating. The i70s carries dual IPX ratings: IPX6 (protected against powerful water jets from any direction – handles wave splash, washdown, heavy rain) and IPX7 (protected against temporary immersion in water up to 1 meter depth for 30 minutes – handles wave overtopping, brief submersion in flooding scenarios). The dual rating is the appropriate spec for cockpit-mounted marine instruments that see direct exposure to the elements.
Compact footprint – fits standard 110 mm cutout. The i70s chassis is sized for the standard 110 mm marine instrument cutout – the same size as Raymarine’s older ST60+ instruments and the industry-standard size for compact marine instrument displays. For boats with existing ST60+ instruments that need replacement, the i70s drops into the existing hole without modifying the helm panel – just unbolt the old, bolt in the new, reconnect the network cable. For new installs, drill the standard 110 mm cutout per the included template.
Surface mount or trunnion mount. The i70s ships with the surface mount kit (the chassis flush-mounts into the helm panel cutout). The optional trunnion mount kit (sold separately) lets you mount the i70s on a bracket above the helm panel – useful for adding instruments to a helm that doesn’t have a flat cutout-able panel, or for adding the i70s to a sailboat mast or hardtop where the panel mount isn’t appropriate.
Keypad navigation. The four-button keypad below the display handles all configuration and screen navigation. Buttons cover: page next / page previous (cycle through configured display screens), menu (enter the configuration menu), and select / OK (confirm menu selections). The keypad is sealed against water intrusion and operates with gloves on.
Low power consumption. The i70s draws meaningfully less current than older instrument displays – typical draw is under 250 mA at 12V (3 watts), so a typical multi-instrument helm with 4-6 i70s heads draws under 20 watts total. Low power consumption matters for sailboats and off-grid boats running on battery for extended periods – lower instrument current means more battery for the autopilot, lights, and chartplotter loads.
Install. Drop the i70s into the helm panel cutout (standard 110 mm). Connect the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 network cable to the back of the unit. If configured as Master with a connected transducer, plug the transducer cable into the appropriate port. Tighten the four mounting screws. Total install time is typically 30-60 minutes for a competent boat owner with the network cabling already in place.
