The FUSION MS-RA60 Marine Stereo + 6.5-inch EL Classic Speaker Kit (part 010-02405-50) is the complete entry-level marine audio system that gets your boat to genuinely good sound for a price most owners can stomach. The MS-RA60 stereo head unit, a pair of 6.5-inch EL Classic marine speakers in white, the AM/FM stealth antenna, two 19-foot speaker wires that handle most typical small-to-medium boat installs, a dust cover for the head unit, and the wiring harnesses and mounting accessories needed to bolt it all down. One part number, complete install kit, no compromises on the audio side.
What this kit is for. Center consoles, bay boats, runabouts, smaller cruisers, pontoon boats, and any other boat that’s getting its first serious marine audio system or replacing the budget OEM stereo with something built for the marine environment. The bundle pricing makes the system roughly the cost of buying just the stereo separately, which is the right approach for owners who don’t want to assemble components individually from different vendors.
The MS-RA60 head unit is the modern compact marine stereo from FUSION (the marine audio specialist division). Multi-Zone audio in two zones lets you run different audio sources at different volumes in different areas of the boat (for example, the cockpit zone and the cabin zone, or the bow and the stern). Most boats use one zone for the main listening area and the second zone for an aft cockpit or bow seating area. With the right speaker placement, you can have music in the cockpit at conversation volume while the bow has the same music at party volume.
The built-in Class-D amplifier is the right amp topology for marine stereos. Class-D delivers higher efficiency than the older Class-AB amps that earlier marine stereos used, which means more output power per amp of current draw from the boat’s battery, less heat dissipated by the head unit (which matters because heat is the enemy of long-term electronics reliability), and tighter bass response from the same amplifier rating. The internal Class-D amp powers the included speakers without needing an external amp module for typical boat-stereo volume levels.
The included pair of 6.5-inch EL Classic marine speakers are the right speakers for most install positions. The 6.5-inch driver size handles the full musical range competently with usable bass response down to about 80 Hz. The speakers are rated 200 watts peak (50-60 watts continuous typical), which matches the head unit’s amplifier output so the system is balanced. White finish is the standard color for most boat installs, complements typical white gelcoat boat interiors. Marine-grade UV-resistant cones and rubber surrounds, sealed cone basket for splash exposure, stainless mounting hardware. These are FUSION’s entry-level marine speakers but they’re still genuine marine speakers (not consumer car speakers in marine packaging).
IPX6 and IPX7 ingress protection on the head unit means the unit handles direct water spray and brief immersion. Mount it in an open helm console where it’ll see rain and washdown without worrying about water damage. The speakers are also designed for direct-mount in marine cockpits with appropriate exposure ratings. The whole system is built for the actual marine environment, not just sold as a marine product.
Bluetooth audio streaming from any compatible smartphone or tablet is the most-used input on most modern marine stereos. Pair your phone, queue up your music app, and the head unit plays it through the boat speakers. Bluetooth pairing also enables FUSION-Link app control from your phone (control volume, source, zone balance, EQ, and other settings from the touchscreen of your phone instead of fighting the head unit’s small front-panel controls). The Bluetooth connection also enables over-the-air software updates from the FUSION-Link app, so you don’t need to bring the unit to a dealer for firmware refreshes.
Compatible MFD integration lets you control the stereo from a compatible chartplotter at the helm. Source selection, volume, zone balance, and basic transport controls all show up as a media app on the MFD. Useful for boats with a chartplotter at the helm where the helmsperson can adjust audio without leaving the chart display. A compatible smartwatch can also act as a wrist-mounted remote control, which sounds gimmicky until you realize how convenient it is to skip a track without having to touch the head unit or pick up your phone.
Fits the MS-RA55 mounting profile. If you’re upgrading from a previous-generation FUSION MS-RA55 stereo, the MS-RA60 drops directly into the same mounting cutout without modification. For new installs, the MS-RA60 cutout dimensions are similar to most modern compact marine stereos. The dust cover (included) protects the head unit when the stereo isn’t in use, especially useful for boats stored outdoors or trailered between trips.
The AM/FM stealth antenna in the kit is the typical compact marine AM/FM antenna designed for boats where mounting a large whip antenna isn’t practical. The stealth antenna is small, mounts almost anywhere, and pulls in AM and FM stations at typical recreational marine ranges. For boats that need long-range AM/FM reception (long-distance offshore cruising, or coastal areas with weak local signals), upgrade to a larger antenna. for typical recreational use, the stealth antenna is fine.
The two 19-foot (6-meter) speaker wires are sized for typical small-to-medium boat installs where the speakers are within 19 feet of the head unit. For larger boats with longer cable runs, additional speaker wire is needed (sold separately). The included wiring harness handles the head unit’s power, ground, antenna, and zone connections.
What this kit isn’t. It is not a high-end marine audio system (the MS-RA60 and EL Classic speakers are the entry-level FUSION line. the high-end Apollo and Signature Series products are significantly more capable and cost much more). It is not a system with subwoofer (you’d add a separate marine subwoofer and amp module for low-end bass extension). It is not a NMEA 2000 networked stereo (this is a standalone unit. for boat-network audio integration look at the higher-end FUSION lines).
